Stop Motion Animation

 

 

We first did a quick study of the history of animation and how animated pictures work.  The childre were amazed at the amount of time and effort that goes into producing a 2 minute cartoon.   Next they partnered up and came up with a simple storyboard which illustrated the plot of their film.  Beyond planning out the plot, each group had to come up with characters and a set. 

 

Over the next several week the groups worked on building all of the components for their film.  Once the components were completed, they were able to use digital cameras and create a film using stop motion filming techniques.   

 

At the end of this project we will have our Claymation Awards (Paddock's version of the Oscars).  The catagories are:

 

Best Set

Best Character Design

Smoothest Animation

Best Picture.
